2 oz. Rye whiskey (or bourbon)
1 oz. Sweet vermouth
2 dashes Angostura bitters
Garnish: Maraschino cherry or lemon twist.
Fill a mixing glass with ice. Add the whiskey, sweet vermouth, and bitters. Stir with a long spoon for about 30 seconds until thoroughly chilled. Strain into chiled coupe or martini glass. Add garnish.
